ABOUT THE COLLECTION SYSTEM

The Cart

Woolwich Township purchased and distributed carts are specially constructed to be used in an automated or semi-automated collection system.  The cart is designed for ease of handling, durability and has a lid which keeps odors in and moisture out.  It is the only container which can be used for trash, recycling, and vegetative collection.

The cart is being provided by the Township and has a serial number that corresponds to your address.  The cart is the property of the Township.  If a resident sells their property, the cart must remain at the address.

DO NOT REMOVE CARTS FROM RESIDENCE. 

 

* Garbage may be placed curbside no earlier than 6 p.m. prior to your collection day and no later than 6 a.m. the day of your scheduled collection.

* Containers shall be removed from curbside no later than 9 p.m. on your collection day.

*Trash and Recycling is collected by Zones. Currently Trash and Recycling in Zone 1 is collected on Tuesday, Zone 2 on Wednesday, Zone 3 on Thursday, Zone 4 on Friday.  Please see the schedule above for your zone’s bulk and vegetative collection days.


Cart Placement

Please place trash and recycling carts at least four feet (4 ft.) apart from each other and clear of any stationary objects (cars, trees, electrical boxes, mail boxes, etc.). Carts should be placed with can opening accessible from the street and the wheels against the curb line to ensure proper dumping. Failure to comply will result in a missed pickup.

Recycling

Woolwich Township will continue with Single Stream collection. This means that you will continue to place ALL recyclables (plastics, glass, cans, paper, and cardboard) in the BLUE cart.

*Recycling items include: newspaper, cardboard, junk mail, office paper, magazines, books, paper bags, plastic containers labeled #1 and #2, glass containers, aluminum and tin/steel beverage and food cans and the like. Shredded paper cannot be recycled and must be disposed of as garbage.

*Please ensure that cardboard is cut down to fit inside the cart.

* Please remove caps from all containers and dispose of in the trash.

* The blue recycling container is not for wood, grass clippings, or other vegetative waste, household refuse or e-waste. Use for single stream recycling only.

*Do Not place items in plastic bags.

*Do Not place any type of plastic bag in the recycle container. Plastic bags can only be recycled at designated drop off locations.

Vegetative Collection

Vegetative waste will be collected during the months of March through December. Yard waste consists of grass clippings, brush and leaves.  These items should be placed in the GREEN yard waste containers provided by the Township.  All Carts must be properly placed at the curb by no later than 6AM on the day of pickup.

 

*CHRISTMAS TREES will be picked up during one collection in January. (REFER TO YARD WASTE SCHEDULE FOR DATES)

*Grass clippings, leaves, loose brush, branches and bushes must be placed inside of the yard waste container provided by the Township.  The lid must be able to close.

*Additional branches, logs, tree trunks or stumps may be cut into four (4) foot lengths, bundled and tied.

*Any bundles, logs or stumps larger than twelve (12”) inches in diameter WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

*Leaves may also be placed in biodegradable paper leaf bags during the months of October, November and December only.  (REFER TO YARD WASTE SCHEDULE FOR DATES)


Construction/Remodeling/Demolition Debris

*THE TOWNSHIP WILL NOT PICK UP CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS.*

Residents/ Contractors are responsible for the proper disposal of this debris.  IT MAY NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE REGULAR HOUSEHOLD DEBRIS CARTS.


Metal Pickup

Metal items include such things as: Swing sets, patio furniture, grills, large appliances, bed frames, etc.  In order to have metal picked up, please call the Trash and Recycling office at (856) 467-2666 Menu Option #3

  • Scheduling  is preferred to be done by email.
    • Email no later than 3:00 PM on the working day prior to scheduled pick up.
    • You will receive a confirmation email to add you to the next pickup
  • Without prior confirmation that you are scheduled for a pickup, your items will not be picked up.

Bulk Pickup

 Bulk Trash collection is a special pick up.

  • Scheduling  is preferred to be done by email.
    • Email no later than noon on the working day prior to scheduled pick up.
    • You will receive a confirmation email to add you to the next pickup
  • Without prior confirmation that you are scheduled for a pickup, your items will not be picked up.

  • Recommended to place the items the Sunday evening prior to your scheduled dated

Or

  • Placed to the curb by 6 a.m. on the day of pick up.

Household bulk items include but not limited to, mattresses (wrapped in plastic), box springs, wood furniture, couches, sofas, chairs, non-metal doors and windows, carpet and the like. No more than the size of a living room set will be picked up at one bulk stop. Entire household cleanouts will not be picked up by the Township.

  • Cardboard, metal, and electronic waste will not be picked up on this date.

Carpet must be cut into 4 foot lengths, rolled and tied in bundles weighting less than 50 pounds.

* Woolwich Twp. does not accept soils of any type, concrete, concrete blocks or concrete materials, asphalt, pavers, bricks, stones or the likes. For disposal contact a concrete/asphalt recycler.
