Opposition to Public Utility Rate Increases

A Message from Mayor Matthias: Opposition to Public Utility Rate Increases

Hello Woolwich residents,

I’ve been contacted by several residents, concerned about the exponential increase in their utility bills. While the township does not control public utilities, we are advocates for our residents and oppose excessive rate hikes.

To make sure our concerns are heard, I joined 24 other Gloucester County Mayors in endorsing a letter to the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) on February 3, 2025. I urge you to join me in opposing these hikes by contacting the BPU at www.nj.gov/bpu

Additionally, there is proposed legislation from our 3rd Legislative District, Bill A5255, which aims to mitigate some of these concerns. I encourage you to show your support for this bill by contacting the district office at www.njleg.state.nj.us/districts/district-3.

Together, we can advocate for fair and equitable utility pricing for all.

Woolwich Mayor Natalie Matthias

Thank you,
Natalie Matthias
Woolwich Township Mayor
